Dr Kate van Harselaar
Dr Kate van Harselaar consults and operates in Dunedin, Central Otago and Invercargill. Previously additional roles included being the Medical Director of Fertility Associates Dunedin and the Clinical Director of Intus Specialist Healthcare. She is currently a Director for the new Private Hospital that is being developed in Dunedin. She is an experienced advanced laparoscopic/hysteroscopic surgeon and a Fertility Specialist
Gynaecology problems are common, and frequently have an impact on a women’s quality of life. Women don’t know what is normal and what is not. We want to optimise your care, tailored for you. We will take a holistic approach to your care, involving other specialities where needed.
Kate completed her medical degree at the University of Otago and went on to finish her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She has been teaching at the University of Otago since 2009, where she currently lectures both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Kate holds a Master’s degree in Physiology with a focus on Reproductive Endocrinology.
After completing her fellowship training, Kate worked in both the public and private healthcare sectors. From 2017 to 2022, she served as the Medical Director for Fertility Associates Dunedin, and in 2022, she joined the Intus Medical Specialists Group.
Kate’s clinical practice encompasses all aspects of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, with a particular passion for advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, infertility management, recurrent miscarriage, endometriosis, pelvic pain, uterine, fibroids/polyps, and ovarian pathology. She is committed to providing tailored treatment plans and prioritise the holistic care of her patients, offering support, education, and expert guidance.
